Carly Martell

"We invited Araceli to join JFF's 10 RISE Network member organizations and host a session on building social capital to drive economic change for immigrants in rural communities. The session was a 1.5-hour afternoon offering included in a two-day convening.

What is striking to me about Araceli’s facilitation style is how comfortable she is in sitting in sometimes uncomfortable silence, how talented she is at creating a safe space for folks to come out of their shells, and how creative she is in thinking through complex scenarios and problems.

Araceli stands out as someone who makes time to get to know who she is working with before jumping into the work itself. She practices what she teaches, that humanization, and relationship building must aways be the foundation of hard and necessary work to build stronger communities."

Connect, Support, Thrive

Conectar, apoyar, prosperar

Culture, Sustainability, Community

For over a decade, I’ve dedicated my life to building spaces where Latinas and women of color can be seen, heard, and supported—professionally, creatively, and economically. As the founder and Executive Director of Midwest Mujeres, I’ve led programs that have uplifted hundreds of women across Wisconsin and the Midwest, from storytelling stages to entrepreneurship trainings.

My work has been funded and trusted by respected partners such as American Family Insurance, Madison Community Foundation, Dane Arts, Madison Arts Commission, and multiple city and county agencies—each one putting their confidence in our mission, our data, and our impact.

I speak not just from theory, but from lived experience as a first-generation Chicana, a mother, a writer, and a community builder who has walked through hardship and still chooses joy, connection, and liberation. My storytelling methods have helped women increase their income, find belonging, launch businesses, and reclaim their own narratives.

Whether I’m teaching financial wellness to a group of grandmothers, coaching a new entrepreneur through imposter syndrome, or leading a cohort through 400+ hours of storytelling work, my credibility comes from the women who return again and again, saying:

“This program changed my life.”
“I finally felt seen.”
“I now know I can build the future I dreamed of.”

This work is an extension of that corazon, a place where I share strategies, research, cultural wisdom, and the lessons we’ve learned from building an organization on the power of community, authenticity, and story.

You’re in the right place.
And I’m honored you’re here.
