“Mass Deportations and their effect in reporting workplace trauma.
The trauma associated with mass deportations is impacting working Latinas, many of whom are the first in their families to break the cycle of generational poverty. We are silently suffering or in shock. Regardless, we push down our emotions and when asked if we are doing okay, we smile back and say, yes. In some cases, we center our white liberal colleagues’ feelings and fears to assure them that it will be okay.
*I’m not saying we want to be left alone, but if you only have tears for a minute and not the dollars or the votes when we need them, then I would say hold your tears and sympathetic hugs. We need a worthy opponent to this display of oppressive power. We need strategy and safety response systems, food distribution, environmental-based solutions, and disability justice.”
