Un poco de Dairy, un corazón del Medio Oeste y mucha Salsa.
Soy latina de primera generación, nacida y criada en Wisconsin . ¿Quién sabía que había mexicanos en Wisconsin? Pero en realidad, somos la tercera población más grande del estado. A medida que la población latina creció en Wisconsin, también lo hicieron los festivales, los negocios, el arte y los matices que conforman nuestra cultura. Y fue entonces cuando comenzó mi trabajo.
Al crecer en el Medio Oeste, estaba muy consciente de que mi nombre y mi familia eran diferentes. Esta experiencia, y otras, me brindaron la ventaja única de observar cómo grupos de personas interactuaban en espacios similares, aunque segregados. Soy un conector cultural natural, narrador, planificador de eventos y creativo.
Usando mi experiencia y conexiones, ayudé a crear muchas iniciativas de divulgación, recaudé miles de dólares para esfuerzos sin fines de lucro, brindé talleres de calidad y brindé tutoría profesional a Mujeres de color.
Estoy ferozmente comprometido con la creación de espacios para contar historias; Creo que a través del storytelling el cambio social es posible. Hablo sobre cómo hacer esto y evitar las trampas comunes del tokenismo, la creación de silos y la diversidad performativa.
